It is a star-shaped pierced pearl shell.
It is the world's largest turban shell and has the strongest pearl layer among shellfish. The rainbow-colored pearl layer is called a rainbow shower, and is prized overseas. It has been used for a long time in Ryukyu Raden crafts in Okinawa. Kaisou no Yokai is a handmade craft by Okinawan artisans.
